Importance of Good Schooling for the Progress of the Country
India has always been a country rich in culture and heritage. In earlier times, when India was still on the path of progress, there was no formal schooling concept though it always had a Gurukul system from the Vedic age. The concept of schools that we have today was introduced only after the British rule.) Earlier, children spent time with their parents and grandparents and imbibed many values and knowledge from them.
However, times have changed, and now we find a complete shift in the concept of the family unit 90% of the parents today are working and do not have time to spend the entire day with their children. Right from the age of 1.5 or 2, a child starts pre-school, and their educational journey begins. Thus, the responsibility of nurturing the child in terms of academics, extra-curricular activities, and values lies in schools. A good education is the most significant foundation for a student’s future which shapes the student’s nature, skill-sets, and personality.
Any country is known to be progressing if it shows progress in its education system, technology, defense services, etc. However, for a country to progress it needs a trained workforce who has the right theoretical and practical skill sets that can efficiently. It is undeniable that there is a direct relationship between a country and its workforce. The better the people perform, the better the company will progress. Hence, it makes sense to invest heavily in people’s schooling, as they will provide a high rate of returns. Hence good schooling becomes that much more important to educate the workforce right from the beginning.
However, there are rapid changes in the Educational systems due to the advancement of technology. Conventional jobs will surely end as soon as technology takes over jobs that humans perform. It is indeed time for us to prepare for a future that we are aware of and prepared for.
Here are a few responsibilities of an educator in today’s time:
- As technology advances schools should also innovate. Schools should gradually change the traditional teaching methodology to more innovative ones that involve more practical knowledge over theoretical knowledge. Students should be given assignments, which help them practically stronger and sharper. It is because, in the end, only practical knowledge will come in handy and nothing else.
- India is a country that has a mix of both worlds. A generation with no access to technology and modernization and a generation that has been overexposed. However, things are very frequently changing here, and everyone is on the go to figure out how to adapt to new things. The educators that belong to the older generation indeed have a vast amount of experience and knowledge, and there is no doubt about that. Still, they need to make themselves more equipped with the newer happenings and be flexible in their thinking.
The school’s responsibility is to make sure that their students grow up to be smart, intellectual, and wise. The school must provide the students with all the resources possible. Creating an enjoyable learning environment is extremely important. Only in an atmosphere that is conducive to learning will learning be effective. Students are future citizens. Hence, good schooling can surely help the country to progress.
